Bingham Penguins Swimming Club is a charity affiliated to Nottinghamshire ASA that supports disability swimming. Penguins meets at Bingham Leisure Centre on Sunday evenings and we run two sessions between 5.30 and 7:30pm. We have been successfully coaching disabled swimmers for over twenty years and have a number of international swimmers amongst our current and former members.
The club has a friendly and supportive atmosphere and an enthusiastic team of volunteers keeping it going.
The club is staffed entirely by volunteers and all of our poolside teachers and coaches are ASA qualified. We also have many young helpers in the water who volunteer with Penguins as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Lots of our young swimmers need one-on-one support in the water and many of our volunteers stay on after their Duke of Edinburgh Award is completed, as they love working with the children.
They are currently looking to recruit some more teachers and coaches, to expand their team. If you are a qualified swimming teacher or coach who wants to support a fantastic local charity for a few hours a week, they would love to hear from you. They are always looking for helpers in the water as well, so if you would like some volunteering experience, here is a great opportunity.
If you are interested and would like some more information or an application form, please contact the Club Secretary via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or see the membership pages on their website binghampenguins.org. We will then contact any enquirer’s and advise them on how to join. This new process will mean that we no longer have to change numerous websites and directory entries when the secretary changes.
