Mrs Nicole Faulkner has joined the Marie Curie fundraising campaign after her father recieved care from the Marie Curie nurses.
Mrs Faulkner was among the collectors in Bingham Market Place for the annual Great Daffodil Appeal. She said that the Marie Curie nurses had been a wonderful help caring for her father, Mr George Thompson in the final weeks of his life. He died of pancreatic cancer and it was important for him to be at home.
She said: ” With their help, we were able to go to bed and not worry, because we knew he was being so well cared for.”
She continued to say that she wanted to do something to help in return and so she volunteered to help with the collection for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
A group was set up in Newark last year, which helped with events organised by the charity as well as coming up with its own fundraising.
Mrs Janette Martindale, the community fundraiser said they always received good backing for the daffodil collection in Bingham and she hoped to set up a fundraising group in the town if there was enough support.
