Nottinghamshire YMCA Celebrates Birthday in Style

Nottinghamshire YMCA’s pioneering summer camp – Camp Williams – is being celebrated on Friday 26 August with local dignitaries, children and their families.

Nottingham South MP, Lilian Greenwood and Chair of D2N2 LEP, Peter Richardson will be joining the party and participating in outdoor activities as Camp Williams marks its momentous first birthday.

There will be special theatrical performances from campers, followed by a party complete with games, wood-fired pizzas and cake.

Based at The Nottingham Emmanuel School thousands of children, aged 4-15 years old, have attended Camp Williams since launching in 2015.

Whether joining for a day, a week, or the entire school holidays, children learn new skills, make friends and have fun with educational activities, sports and creative workshops including paddle sports, music production, climbing, skateboarding, painting, archery and much more.

Todd Cauthorn is Nottinghamshire YMCA’s Operations Manager for children and families: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our first birthday and our achievements with Lilian Greenwood and Peter Richardson.”

“We have had a busy and successful year and we’re already looking forward to welcoming more children to Camp Williams throughout the school holidays, over the next 12 months.”

YMCA Camp Williams has been developed by Nottinghamshire YMCA, a local charity with a rich history dating back over 145 years, working for healthy living, social responsibility and youth development. Nottinghamshire YMCA believes positive relationships, skills development and experiences during early years help young people to make healthy choices and positive contributions in later life.

Nottinghamshire YMCA ensures Camp Williams is as accessible as possible by providing scholarship opportunities for those who otherwise would not be able to attend.
