The weather was in favour of all the archers competing in the Final Notts League shoot of 2013. The Bingham Leisure Centre Archery team arrived at the competition with a healthy squad that reflected on their performances.
The club won the major trophy – Senior Recurve Team for the third year running as well as winning it four times out of the last six. Despite winning last year, the Junior Recurve team came third. Catherine Angus was First Junior Girl Recurve, alongside Andrew Hunton, First Junior Boy Barebow both were shooting the senior distance in the first two shots, Adrianne Goodwin took the Lady Longbow Handicap medal.
Simon Barnicott of the Bingham Leisure Centre Archery Club said; “I think everyone who was there would agree that the League was a great success this year ~ yes the weather helped ~ and would encourage everyone else in the club to take part, who knows what we might win with more people challenging in more categories.
“I should mention the Sanderson Brothers ~ you may have spotted friendly rivalry between the two of them, well today Pete came out on top scoring 700 to Sandy’s 698. Sandy will of course explain it by saying he made a mistake with respect to whether to use the top or bottom of his sight for his sight marks but the fact remains Pete scored two more ~ even if it had to go to a recount before that was certain. it was also good to see Shani Lambert-Coward back shooting after a long time recovering from losing an arguement with a lawnmower.
“I am pleased to be able to advise you that Catherine Angus has now received her Junior Master Bowman badge from AGB, confirming that she has acheived JMB this year. Congratulations Catherine. I’m sure she will show it to you if you ask nicely ~ let’s hope it also inspires our other juniors to achieve something similar in the near future.”
