This year marks the 40th birthday of the Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham Hospitals Charity is marking the occasion with an iconic Big Abseil.
The Big Abseil, the first of its kind, will take place at the QMC on 16th and 17th September 2017. The event will see hospital staff, former patients and their families, and members of the public abseil 85 feet down the exterior of the QMC, which is one of the tallest hospitals in the UK.
Nottingham Hospitals Charity has set its sights on raising a total of £40,000 from the event. Many participants are using the event to fundraise for the Big Appeal, which aims to raise £3 million by 2019 to provide better parent accommodation and new diagnostic equipment for the Children’s Hospital, fund ground-breaking research into childhood illnesses, and create a more child-friendly environment within the hospital.
Nick Lawford, Fundraising Manager at Nottingham Hospitals Charity said: “We’re so excited to be launching the Big QMC abseil, and can’t wait to see all the brave fundraisers lowering themselves down the side of Queen’s Medical Centre to raise vital funds for Nottingham’s hospitals. It’s a really unique opportunity to do something hugely memorable, for an excellent cause.”
